I send to the entire family my condolences and prayers during this very difficult time. I know that the amazing memories of Mike, dad, husband, grandfather, brother, will stay with you always and allow you to celebrate his life and cherish the time you had with him. I never had the privilege to meet him but felt I knew him through Jenn. His strength and spirit shined through whenever we talked about dad. I send love and support my friend...

Dear Kris, Jen, Tish and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss.... but not just your loss, a shared loss to everyone who ever met Mike.
To lose someone with such a vibrant approach to life is always so hard because it is so unfair. Only the good die young is so true. Why does someone with such love for his family and such a bond with his family have to leave ? Why does someone who brightens up a room and brings laughter and warmth to the people he interacts with have to leave? There are no answers to the "why". All I know is that I feel gratitude for having known Mike and having worked with him.
I have such great memories of Mike. I always loved hearing his crazy snowmobile stories and SIU stories told in a way that only he could tell with that mischievous twinkling smile... I also found it hilarious that Mike always had these random recommendations for me regarding little weird places to eat around the GTA when I was on the road. As I recall the places were actually good ! (if you could find it of course)
I really wish I could have made it out to Sutton yesterday to pay my respects to Mike and to all of you. I think the term "fighter" is overused much of the time but certainly not where it comes to Mike's battle with that ugly disease. Mike fought so hard and your whole family fought beside him like few that I have ever seen. Every single one of you is an inspiration to all other families struggling with the impacts of this disease, but you are all such an inspiration well beyond that because you are an example of what amazing family is all about, You really are.
Goodbye Mike it was an honour knowing you and working with you.
To the rest of the family, I really wish I could have seen you yesterday and told you this in person but it wasn't possible. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Big hugs !
~Kyle

Kris, Jen, Tisha & families;
I am deeply sorry for the loss of Mike. I worked with all 4 of you for years and, when I describe your family I use the words "so tight". The love & genuine "like" you have for each other is unique. Your family is a gift that i know you all cherish....a role model for a lot of other families. Mike was kind, loving, and as loyal as could be to each of you. He had the kindest big eyes and smile and I always noticed him check in on your Mom throughout the work day...Kris you were deeply loved. Jen & Tisha he was so proud of you both,,,I can only imagine how incredible a grandfather he was to your children. He will continue to watch over you all with pride at the family he helped create. Continue to make him proud, smile & remember, he will always be with you, God Bless xoxo

Kris
,
This has been a long battle for Mike and he never gave up the fight. If ever there was a role model for people it was Mike. He loved life to the fullest and treated everyday as a special gift. He loved friends and family because that is what gave him joy. If I could be a "fly" in his thoughts, I am sure he would have been thinking that he had a really good life and a great family. We will miss him for sure. We will never forget our Arizona trip. Even though at times he was not well he would not let it beat him and bring him down. That was Mike. Enjoy every minute of life. Our sincere sympathies to you and the family. Love Carol and Brian

Mike was a wonderful person and an excellent employee. He was very courageous and handled his illness with dignity, never seeming bitter by what had befallen him. Mike will be missed and although we are not able to attend the service I would like to pass our condolences to Kris and the rest of Mike's family.

We were filled with sadness when we learned of Mike's untimely death. When someone dies so young (and 62 is young!), you feel so cheated. Never have we witnessed anyone fight so hard against the evil that is cancer. Mike adored his family and we are grateful that he was able to enjoy time with all of his grandchildren. We believe that they made him fight even harder and gave him the will to live. It was an honour to know and work alongside Mike. Time heals, we know this. But it takes a long time. May your wonderful memories give you strength at this sad time.
