Danny’s Dash
I read of a man who stood to speak,
at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the obit,
from beginning to the end
He noted that first came the date of birth,
and spoke of the following date near tears
But he said what mattered most of all,
was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time,
that he spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved him,
know what that little line is worth
For it matters not how much we own,
the cars, the house, the cash

Dan was one of the warmest, calmest, funniest person I've ever known. My deepest condolences to my dear friend Fran and family. Dan and Fran were our neighbours for many many years and first became good friends and then became family to us. We grew up with them, got married and had children. They were always so loving to us and our kids. Our kids learned to swim in their pool and we still laugh about those moments! Danny got such enjoyment from our kids antics. I was so saddened to hear of Dan's death. I have such great memories of him from my youth. One of my fondest memories is Dan teaching me to water ski from the dock.
