I must admit that I'm horribly awkward in these situations and find myself unable to find the right things to say, or know when it’s appropriate to say them.
I truly wish I was there today just to give you a big’ol hug as sometimes that says it all!...and please know that we’re all with you in spirit.
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and we are all a reflection of the people who raised and showed us the way.
Well Brian, you and Rita are a true inspiration and people we should all try to emulate as compassionate and understanding colleagues, friends and more importantly parents. It was always so nice to see the two of you, and your children, at the MCA weekends. It truly showed that you always come from a place of humility and integrity, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you, and Rita, for that.
Having lost my father, I know that this is a huge leak of love that won’t heal quickly; especially having witnessed first hand how supportive you always were of each other…pretty magic stuff when you reflect on the wonderful times you did get to spend together!!!
...and I’m sure Rita will be giving God an earful when she gets the chance – naturally she’ll grandstanding your families & friends, and making sure that the big fella is saving spots for the rest of us when it’s our turn to make the journey.
Take comfort in knowing that you all now have your very own guardian angel,
and I know your family and friends will be able to celebrate her life in a positive way!!!

Rita and Brian have been our Florida neighbors for about four and a half years. They only came down for a couple of weeks at a time but wow the great times we would have while they were here. We have had the pleasure of meeting all their children and grandchildren, and many of Brian's Brothers and their wife's. They have become part of our family. Susan would get so excited when we would hear that they would be coming to Fl. We would play marble until late into the night and Brian and I would always let the girls win. hahaha. We can still hear her laughing at the fact that the boy's lost again. We both will miss her more than she would ever know.

There was a time I felt a personal loss would never be in "OUR" families.. It would always be another that you hear about on the news or through friends of another friend never connected to us as IMMEDIATE family.
The realization of actually loosing one so very very close to us who has always been there is the hardest reality we will ever endure.
I was once told "the first of everything will be the hardest"
And that was so true.. We are so very sorry and so very sad for Rita's passing. Just seeing Rita a month ago, she was so happy talking about her grandchildren which were her life. She lit up in conversation about how much fun she was having being a grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
