I am the grandson of Lena Litner, Benny's sister and Sophie's aunt. Although the families parted, there was always a connection to some degree. Benny used to bring eggs to my mother in the city and we used to visit them in Sutton, often getting into the car and finding that he had thrown a load of fresh vegetables in while we weren't looking. Unfortunately, our paths crossed less and less after Benny and Lena passed away.
I remember cousin Sophie as a strong, spirited, graceful and gracious presence. We had only met a few times but in each of those she exuded great joy and the incredible will be alive and enjoy life. I would get continuing reports about her health and antics from Bill & Terry, Don & Sonia & Gary and Gwen and she would call me on occasion when she had a question about Jewish practice or history.
She was a remarkable women. My deepest condolences.
