Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Dr. George?
A: Doc George was one of a kind. He was called upon to stitch up my 15yr old sons toes when he pulled the lawn mower back over them while cutting the grass. 4 toes were badly mangled. He was brilliant. After they healed you couldn’t tell there was any injury at all. He was always caring; committed and reliable. He was our family Dr for many years. He deserved the award every year as best doctor. May he RIP safe in his Saviours arms.

I had the honor of working with this accomplished physician and gentlemen from 1996 to 2004 in Sutton. I was recruited from a residency placement and was lucky enough to share a shingle with George at Georgina Medical. I am deeply regretful that I was not able to visit this year, as I had planned. The last time I saw George was at his 50 th Anniversary as a medical practitioner. Like others, I will always recall his dedication to the community of Sutton, his calm, confident and generous nature, and his warm smile whenever he greeted me. He had a great and positive impact on me, personally and as a mentor.
My sincere condolences to Joyce and the entire Family

When I arrived at Sutton West as a new immigrant in 1967, Dr Burrows offered me a job in his practice where I was known as "the English Nurse". I very much admired him as a doctor and working with him in that community setting was the very best introduction I could have to Canadian medicine. His care of the local Indian population in particular was an inspiration to me and I treasure my memories of him. Ruth Perfitt, Norwich England.

Our hearts were very sad when we learned of the passing of our dear frend Dr. George.
Our prayers are with our friend Joyce and their four children. We would like to have been able to be present for the funeral but distance was a factor.
Betsey worked for Dr. Burrows in his first clinic on the main street as a teenager, and often served him his lunch that Joyce had prepared and left in the fridge for him.
When Terry returned to Theological College, the Burrows rented us the "Mill House" at a very reasonable rate. They also gave us their new doctor "Widit" to board and Betsey answered the phone at night. Without this help we would have struggled. George also sat with Betsey, in the 90+ degree heat, at Newmarket Hospital, while we waited for Christina to be born, on July 21, 1963.
George also supported my mother Mariane Gillan when she was the first female Reeve of Sutton.
He will be greatly missed by all and especailly us.

Sending our sympathies for your loss, but also our gratitude to the Burrows Family for sharing Dr. George with us for so many many decades. He made our lives richer as he: looked after my father (Everest) as his friend and fellow philosopher; made house calls to my brother Robert undeterred by barky dog River, which always lit up their day; was there for my own babies with their ear aches and summer bumps and scrapes; and was for me the voice of calm experience, wisdom and reason, and a true gentleman always. With respect, Mary Munro and the Harvie Family

To the Burrows Family: Our sincere condolences go out to the whole family for their loss of such a dedicated man. George cared for our parents over the years and then cared for us from the early sixties until he placed us in the capable hands of other doctors who had practiced under his guidance. We are so thankful for such a caring individual. We expect he was the only doctor who knew the true meaning of a "house call". May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to the Burrows family. Dr. B has "doctored" four generations of the Joblin family over the past fifty years. He was also a good friend and neighbour, first in Sutton and then in Jackson's Point. Our grandmother, "Joblin", as she was affectionately called by the Burrows children, spent many enjoyable hours with them. We have fond memories of our father, Dr. B, and their fellow Kinsmen, entertaining us in the yearly Kinsmen Show. Dr. B has left his mark on the community and in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all! Special hugs sent to Joyce. May your wonderful memories of this extraordinary man, one who gave so much of himself to others, support you in this time of farewell and sorrow. May you know your sadness is shared by so many others.
We were remembering our camping trip to Killarney Provincial Park almost 40 years ago, when we shared a campsite with your family for a night. We moved on to a separate site the next day. A bear took our place that evening looking for remnants of the fish your family had caught and cooked for dinner; your tent did not fare well from that encounter.
David and I were also recalled the countless nights we shared coffee at the Timmins' with your Dad in attendance. We still have the picture on the fridge of Marg & Vic, George and Joyce, Eileen(Holborn) and Debbie Timmins that I assume Randy took in Barbados. A life time friendship. We should all be so fortunate!
Sending love and hugs,
David & Jackie

Dr. George was my godfather and definetly one of a kind. My mother says that I was the first baby delivered by him after he graduated from medical school and opened his clinic.
As a boy, I remember sitting in the waiting room and staring up at his collection of taxidermied wild birds. He always walked to the examination room at the same steady, unhurried pace, no matter what was happening. His dedication to medicine and his community were unequalled and will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace Dr. George; your duty has been well done.
