Patricia T. McCutcheon
(nee Savage)
It is with profound sadness and regret that we announce Pat's passing at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket on the afternoon of Thursday April 23, 2015. Two days shy of her 41st wedding anniversary to her husband Roy, she passed peacefully with four family members present. Pat fought as she lived her life; with a strength, grace, kindness & wit that touched and inspired those who came to know her over the years, through all walks of life.
Born and raised in Toronto by her parents Dorothy and Harold Savage, along with her brother John (all now deceased) she attended St. Clements School in Toronto with a final grade 13 year at Northview Heights Collegiate. Pat developed a taste for cottaging at their family cottage on Snake Island. In her early years, as a talented musician, Pat could be found playing the organ every Sunday at their family church in Toronto. With a family of three children Stephen, Rob and Laurie when she married Roy in 1974, she added to her care his children Wilma, Ruth, Mary Lynne and Brian. Pat was proud of all of her children & felt great joy in the love and commitment they share as siblings. Over the years the family has grown steadily, adding spouses who became friends & eight grandchildren (Hannah, Kyle, Jessica, Samantha, Lauren, Dana, Georgia and Grace) she felt blessed to see grow into caring, supportive young adults.
Never to be forgotten are the fond memories of all the good times spent at the family cottage on Drag Lake in Haliburton, with her love of boating, waterskiing, swimming and especially fishing, nor time spent at the Meadows in Sarasota, ski and golf trips and treasured visits with family in different parts of Canada and the U.S.
As the owner and operator of Lady Ames clothing store in Aurora and then Thornhill until the early 90's, Pat truly found her stride. Through her subsequent work at art galleries both in Toronto and Georgina, as well as serving our community as an early member of the Board of Directors of the Georgina Arts Centre, Pat shared her love of the arts along with her new found talent for painting. Also, as a former curling, tennis and golf member at Thornhill Country Club, friendships established during those early years continue to exist. Since moving to the Sutton area in 1994, many new friendships were established both as a member of the Briars Golf Club until recently, as well as with many town residents and local merchants.
In accordance with Pat's wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of Pat's life will be held later this spring for family and friends living locally. As well, with so many of the family living in the west i.e. California, Vancouver, Edmonton, Nelson and Canmore a second celebration will be held at a later date in Canmore, Alberta.
Thank you to family and friends that have shared in Pat's life journey and continue to support her family.
Thank you also to the staff at both hospitals for their exemplary care and support of Pat and our family.
In lieu of flowers etc. a contribution to the Toronto Western neurological research division and/or the Georgina Arts Centre would be much appreciated.
