When my brother Brad told me of Bruce's passing I was somewhat shocked because, despite passing years & health challenges, we thought of Bruce as forever young.
As kids, you don’t always look forward to visits from your parents’ friends, but when Bruce & family came to visit, we were as or more excited than our parents. Bruce connected with people of all ages; his enthusiasm was contagious. Bruce joined us when my brother and I went to our first Leafs Gardens game - a very big deal for me, a (then) young Leafs fanatic. Delayed at our pre-game restaurant, Bruce noticed my distress & reassured me that we would “only miss the Queen”. I didn’t understand why the Queen was at the hockey game, but it calmed me. Decades later, when running late for an event, I tell my friends “not to worry; we will only miss the Queen”. They have no idea what I am talking about/how it relates to the anthem. But it makes me smile.
My condolences to the McConnell family. His was a life well lived.

We would like to express our Condolences and Deepest Sympathies to the entire Family. Bruce was a great friend I was very thankful that I had the opportunity to refer to Bruce as a very close and dear friend. Bruce from the first time I met him he welcomed me to the Lake. Bruce was quick with a smile, a cocktail, his Wine, he was happy all the time, his energy level was unsurpassed, and his love of “speed” Bruce could not do enough for you Life will go on, the sun will rise again, as the seasons change to Fall and Winter will loom, Lake Simcoe will freeze and you will hear a SkiDoo and you will think of Bruce, the Ice huts will appear and you will think of Bruce, then Spring returns, life regenerates begins again, you will hear a SeaDoo and you will think of Bruce, every summer night at sunset you will hear a boat motor and you will think of Bruce. I am so very glad I knew Bruce and Donna and their Family, it was my lucky day to meet Bruce he made me a better person "God Bless Bruce"

Now there is a man who knows how to live!!! This is what I always thought to myself when I saw Bruce fly by our house on his speed boat, his jet ski, or on his catamaran. In the winter, he enjoyed himself on his snowmobile both on and off the water. He did winters in Florida. What a man!!! What a life!!! He worked hard and he played hard. He was as kind and generous as a person could be. I am sure that this must be an incredible loss for all of you and George, the boys, and I extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of you.
