Dear Nancy,
It was with great regret that Penny and I learned of the passing of Bob. I have many memories of the two of us attending an endless number of constituency events where despite the often late hours and jammed packed schedules Bob always remained relaxed and smiling. He taught me the value of parking patisanship at the door so we could best serve those who elected us. He was a man of purpose but also a man of principle.
We have particularly fond memories of our trip to Thessaloniki in 1981 with Allison. It was hot, somewhat chaotic but a rewarding adventure!
You all must be proud of the outstanding contribution that Bob made to his community, his profession and to Canada. We offer our sincere condolences but at the same time celebrate a wonderful life.
Yours sincerely,
David Collenette

Dear Nancy and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was a privilege and a pleasure to be associated with you and Bob through our daughter Meredith. We hold fond memories of, "around the dinner table" at Lake Simcoe.
Sincerely,

Just a short note to say what an honour it was to know Dr. Elgie. As a young civil servant in past days, he was most certainly someone that one could learn from and he was always kind and appreciative of work that was done. When I became the President of WSIB, about twelve years ago, he passed by and stopped in to chat and wish me well on my new and challenging job. Now, in retirement, I look back on that and know that was just one of many ways in which he was a distinguished and outstanding leader. He was a kind, dedicated man and my thoughts are with you, the family, at that very difficult time. Sincerely,
Jill Hutcheon

Dear Mrs. Elgie, dear Family,
Please accept my most sincere condolences upon Bob's departure.
I have read his obituary and many testimonies about him. How true and precise those words are.
I was a Liberal MPP from 1984 until 1995. Bob helped me immensely during his tenure at the WCB. He was always most fair and understanding, helping me get the WCB's support for the many injured workers I represented. It was an immense pleasure to work with him on all these sad cases. He made all the difference in the world.
I will always keep a wonderful souvenir of an exceptional person with a heart of gold. A true and noble gentleman in all senses of the words. I am very saddened to learn of his departure. His immense contribution to the betterment of humanity will never be forgotten.
My very best regards.
Salut Bob, et merci pour tout l'appui et l'amitie.
