von Seefried, Adolf Adolf von Seefried passed away peacefully at his home, with his family by his side, on Tuesday May 9th, 2023 at the age of 93 years. Beloved father to Philip (Laura) and Karin (Marty) and proud grandfather to Matt (Taylor), Katie (Jake), Sara and Caroline. Adolf was loved by his three siblings, Wilhelm (Roswitha), Dagmar and Harald (Constance) and his many nieces and nephews in Canada and in Germany. Born in Bamberg Germany, Adolf immigrated to Canada in 1953. He worked on a farm and later joined Connaught Labs where he was on the team that made the Polio vaccine. He went back to school to complete is Masters and PHD at the University of Guelph, making lifelong friendships. He returned to Connaught Labs and his work contributed to the making of the Smallpox vaccine. Following his time there, Adolf taught at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, York University and Seneca College. Adolf named the farm Windeby, after the family farm in north Germany. He loved his horses, farming, gardening and swimming in Lake Simcoe. He enjoyed visits to Germany and Switzerland and cruising across the Atlantic. He always said he was happiest on the farm. Adolf is often described as charming and entertaining. He always had a story to tell and would often invite friends and students to the farm to enjoy the country. Adolf was involved in the community, volunteering with the Parish of Georgina, organizing Sunday afternoon concerts at St. Georges and also volunteering with Hospice Georgina. Many thanks to Dr. MacIntyre for his care, compassion and guidance. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
