Dear Laura and family,
I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Garry. In the short time that I met you both, I knew he was a wonderful person, and your "rock". He had a wonderful sense of humour and you both obviously enjoyed each other's company.
My heart goes out to you in your loss.
Big Hugs,
Nancy

My condolences to Gary's family. I worked with Gary for some years in the fire dept. He was a great ,jovial, and always friendly guy.. It's sad for us retired firefighters to see our brothers pass on far too soon in their life!

Our sincerest condolences for your loss Laura. Garry was a kind and gentle soul with the gift of gab. Many a time we would start chatting with Garry in a store and the conversation would easily go on for the longest time. At the end of our visit we would ask how Laura was, only to have him say that she was fine and was waiting in the car. We would then follow him to the car to say hi and apologize for keeping Garry so long only to have you look up from your crossword puzzle or book, smile and reply that it was ok, almost as if you had expected that he would bump into a friend. Garry was optimistic, carefree and never ended a conversation without a chuckle or two. We admired how he stubbornly defended his common sense beliefs, even if they were not accepted by some uninformed but vocal critics. This display of integrity was one of his many great qualities and made him one of a kind. Rest in peace our friend.

Garry,
I was looking forward to getting to see you in person again so I am very saddened by this news. You were an admirable person with a loving personality. Thank you for all the lessons, the kindness, and positive influence you gave me. I learnt so much from being around you and looked up to you. Will always have you in my heart.

So many wonderful memories of Garry, Deb and I driving around Markham and Unionville. I will never forget the time we went off the road in the winter and Garry hiked to a farmhouse to get us pulled out. He left us the keys so we could stay warm but told Deb NOT to try and drive out. Of course she did, and off course that made matters worse. You could tell Garry was mad when he got back but he was so good natured and he held it together! Just the best friend.

Words cannot express how much we’ll miss you. Your contagious laughter and happy demeanor will never be forgotten. You stepped up without hesitation when my father passed away 24 years ago, even though I wasn’t always an angel.
When you came out east and we walked to the orchard, you handed me your pocket knife and said “always keep this on you when you’re walking in the forest” I never thought that would be the last time I’d see you. It’s so hard to say goodbye but we take comfort in knowing you are now pain-free.

Q: How did you meet Garry?
A: Met Garry and Laura 100 years ago one night when my friend Sue and I were bombing around Georgina in her car. Somehow we all immediately bonded and have been friends every since dispute the physical distance between us.
I wish I could get up there to give Laura and Karen a hug and pay my respects, but will be unable to.
