Lois. I am truly saddened and shocked to hear of Doug's passing. He was always a smiling presence greeting me at the door whenever I would join you for meetings. I loved hearing you tell of his "Santa" adventures and your support of him in that role.

Lois and family.
I was deeply saddened by the news that Doug had passed, my condolences to you all.
I have many fond memories of HDA ( at least that is how we sometimes referred to him when he was out of earshot) Doug was a strong presence in my early adult days and for many days following. He provided me with opportunities to do many things that I probably wouldn't have had the courage to do on my own. My wife and I had countless adventures with Doug and Mary as they were always willing to share an adventure or trip or movie night.
Thinking back I realize that Doug was always able to reinvent himself or pivot when he came up against a wall. And pivot he did as he had many colourful careers spanning numerous years. A rodeo promoter, bus operator, caterer, boat captain, and Santa to name but a few.
No project was impossible to Doug, whether it be the dismantling and reconstruction of a building or the logistics of feeding a crowd of 1000. Every challange was an opportunity to Doug and he forged ahead undaunted regardless of the warnings of others. I will forever admire him for his perservirance and his trust in the people he surrounded himself with.
Rest in peace Paladin, have gun will travel no more.
