I was so saddened to hear of the early loss of such a special person. When I heard, I went to my parents house to go through some old memories to share. I came across a few photos.
I have many great memories with Nicole when she first came to L.O.C. Our grade 8 Graduation trip to Ottawa was such a blast, it was my birthday as well and Nicole made sure it was so special. Most of my memories with Nicole involve all the time spent at our houses after-school and the unbelievable amount of laughter. One particular evening at my house in grade 9, Nicole, Kelly Falcioni and I decided to act out and film a remake of SCREAM (one of our favorite movies at the time) even though it ended up becoming more of a parody with our horrible acting skills and non stop laughing.
My condolences to the Steffan family, Nicole was such a shining light and I treasure my memories with her.

Feb 1989 to May 1996 I had the utmost pleasure of working for the Steffan family as Nicole, Kirk, Brandon and Jacks nanny. Recently new to Canada It was without saying the perfect family to be part of. All of the children had their very own unique personalities and it soon became evident that Nicole was the protector of her younger siblings. When Jack was a baby, he was often caught in a tug of war between Nicole and myself because she wasn’t ready for him to go for a nap. Nicole was loving, giving and strong minded. She knew what she wanted and equally what she didn’t want. I feel blessed to have been part of this beautiful family and part of Nicole’s childhood. Although we were friends on Facebook, it has been many many years since we last connected. It’s times like these that you realize life is not only precious but very short too. In Nicole’s case shorter than what should be expected. Kathy, Val, Kirk, Brandon and Jack my heart breaks for you all. May your heart find solace in remembering Nicoles light, beauty and laughter. Dear Val, Kathy, Kirk, Brandon and Jack;
We are so sad for the loss of Miss Nicole. Our families have always been close. We were there at the beginning of Nicole's life, when she was affectionately know to a select group of her parent's friends as the Giaconda baby. Nicole was the eldest of all our children and always a leader. There are so many memories of all of us at the cottage. Brave Nicole was always the first in the water and ready to try tubing, water skiing or any lakeside adventure. It has been a pleasure to watch her grow into the beautiful and successful woman she became. We were lucky to share good times with her and all of you in Willow Beach over the past few years. Nicole was taken from us far too soon and we will remember her always and miss her very much.

As a fellow ‘84 and St Joseph’s/Carter grad, Nicole and I were classmates and friends for much of our youth.
I have many memories from my childhood that included Nicole and the rest of our St Joes class. Everything from recess, hot lunches, gradation, Halloween, school concerts, Scanlon Creek and on and on. We were a pretty small class, and a relatively tight group.
In our 20s Nicole and I ended up in the same industry and we would occasionally run into each other at events or in downtown Toronto. It was always an easy conversation and fun to catch up. I’m sorry to hear about her passing.

Dear Val, Kathy and boys,
I am so sorry to hear of Nicole’s passing. Far too soon, in our eyes anyway. I remember the day we first met, I went to visit Baby Nicole with my dearest friend Vivian. I can still see the way Viv looked at that dear baby, such a loving bond between them. When you were ready to go back to work, Kathy, there was no one who quite measured up to be an adequate day caregiver for that precious baby, so a nanny was hired, and you worked from home. At least these are my memories.
At 88 years, and counting, I think it’s close enough to the truth.
My heart goes out to all of the family.

Our deepest condolences to Nicole's family. She was a treasure and her smile lit up a room. I met Nicole at Cushman & Wakefield shortly after she joined and was her assigned mentor for a time.
