Dear Jill and Devin,
We are so sorry about your loss. John is such a warm and cheerful person. We will always remember how he told us his gardening plans excitedly and how he would end our phone conversations with "Ok, my dear..."
In honour of John, we have sent a contribution to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation.
Please take good care of yourselves. Your family is in our prayers.
Blessings,
Yan and Christine

John and I spoke often and our calls always ended in the same way with John saying "I love you Mom" to which I responded "I loved you first".

I will miss my sweet uncle. As a kid I spent a lot of time with him. He taught me how to ride a bike, and how to fly on the swings. He was painfully patient (I didn't learn easily) I especially remember my exciting trip to stay with him and my Aunt Sheran at their new home n Port Perry with the cool spiral staircase in the middle and the big pool. He always made me feel special and spoiled me. Over the years we would write each other and talk on the phone , we both have the gift of gab! He was kind, sweet and funny and I will always cherish him xoxo Your niece, Holly Anne

John will always hold a special place in my heart. He would call me for cooking advice all the time, I will miss those calls. He was like a brother to me, a friend a co-worker, family. I always told John, " I love you but you're my 60 year old toddler!" every time he wanted to argue about something at work. He Loved food and quite often before my Dad passed he would bring in food for the team but he would always make something a little special for Johnny Buzz! I will miss his bigger than life presence at work. His "Hey Buddy" to every customer his laugh. John was a gentleman and treated us ladies here at Princess Auto to flowers on occasion, this was a big deal for him and even the last time I spoke to him on the phone he told me once he was home he wanted to send the ladies some flowers to let them know he was thinking of them. He also told me how he couldn't wait to start his garden. He was very proud of his garden. I feel blessed to have know John and his memory will live on in all of us. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him, But we will honor him by planting our gardens and watching his sports team and cheer them on. I'll miss you Buzz.

My dear brother, always the eternal optimist. I remember when we were children I found him outside one morning, pacing out our side yard. When I asked what he was doing he showed me the back of the cereal box which had a contest for a pool. He said he was mapping out the area to make sure we had enough room. :) Life was not always easy for him, but it was his optimism that carried him.... right up till the end. He was looking forward to using his new walker to get back out in the neighborhood, and yes this would be the year that the Leafs won the Stanley cup. I will carry those good memories in my heart.

Posted in memory of my brother John: We grew up together, we were not alike but we shared much and I loved you.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope...for the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Go thy way, eat they bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. Whatsover thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Qoh. 9)

He is Gone (Remember Me) by David Harkins
You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
