To Yvonne and family, Donna and I are so sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. The four of us have so many happy memories over the years, many dinners at each of our homes; playing cards — Girls against the boys, laughing until tears ran down our cheeks; fun and games at our cottage — you and Donna buying Ted and I those “Old Fashioned, EXTRA WIDE NECKTIES, at the second hand store at the Madonna House in Combermere. The Widest, and Wildest ties to wear at supper celebrating Fathers’ Day, which we wore over our t-shirts to Dinner that evening, Quite a sight!!!! Those were the crazy days at our Cottage Eh….
Then the family times, Donna’s wedding. Ted delivering Donna to the church in his antique Model T car and wearing that BLACK TAILS OUTFIT, and an Abe Lincoln Top Hat, that made him look like a Mountain! Then he wore the HAT, all the way into the church and down to the aisle to the Alter. What a sight that was. Only Ted could pull that off. What a guy!!!!!
Remember the two weeks in south Texas with us? The “Parrot” Restaurant, on South Padre Island, and the live Parrot sitting next to us, YACKING with Eddie so loud we couldn’t hear each other talking. We finally had to move far away from the Bird. I thought for sure Ted was going to bring that BIRD home. Lol
Also the many afternoons we spent at your beautiful homes in Goodwood and Sutton on the Lake; you and Donna C. whipped the pants off us consistently! More Great Times and Memories!
There are so many of them, just know we will always have these remembrances to look back on.
Love You Guys, Yvonne, Donna, Sherry and Family. Rest In Peace, Big Fella, see you Later………

My father-in-law, Ed and I travelled together across Ontario and the northern United States. Sometimes we were in a big truck, other times we would be in a pick-up, and sometimes we would be travelling in style in a classic car. We were always looking for wildlife, a yard sale, a car show or an interesting character to strike up a conversation with. Dad Yeates was always there with his toolbox to fix, repair, or give counsel to some area of my life. I'm fortunate to have had a father-in-law that I count as one of my best friends. Dad Yeates, thank you, I miss you so much, but with the sight of every antique car, a red corvette, every time I see wildlife on a backroad somewhere, my memory will be flooded with thoughts of you. Until we meet again at the gates of Heaven, I will cherish every memory of you.
Love John Mac

What a wonderful friendship the two of you enjoyed! Your (almost) yearly "adventure trips" produced the best stories, practical jokes, and interesting experiences that you both could relive at every family gathering.
John, it was you that Dad remembered, called by name, and asked for the longest. What a blessing to witness a beautiful friendship between the two prominent men in my life.

Mom:
I’m so deeply saddened by your loss.
Seeing dad just before he left us and being in the presence of your peace and strength during the visit has helped me cope with the situation.
As I expressed to you that day, words could never convey what he meant to me and how he influenced me.
My love and thoughts to you , Sherry, Donna and the whole family.
John

Dad was the gatekeeper of our childhood home, the protector of the family, and a living example of duty, hard work, and traditional values. His strong presence was a shield from some of the harsh onslaughts of life, but Dad also shielded his vulnerabilities - even from those who loved him most. Everyone had to work hard to earn his trust.
I’m grateful for life lessons learned at his side, his passionate defence of personal freedoms, and his encouragement to persevere when times are tough. He had faith in me to make the right decision and to defend my stance.
I was not his “princess”, but sometimes I was his sidekick. In his home I learned to confront hypocrisy, defend the weak, consume responsibly, stand strong in my convictions, pursue excellence, explore my limits, confidently look a man in the eye, ask questions, and press for answers. When I was too old to control, he dismissed me, but I appreciate the lessons learned at Dad’s side.
In his last few years, as dementia claimed Dad’s memories, the threads of his connection to people frayed more and more until they disintegrated, so I remembered his life for him. I retold his stories about his friends at school, how he brought wild animals home as pets, life with his mum, dad, and siblings, his first job, family weekends enjoyed at a friend’s cottage, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing, his management career, his varied assortment of friends and business contacts, restoring antique cars, my wedding day, treasured gifts he had given, the births of my children, his commitment to Christ, miraculous healing of his back, his interest in our home education lessons, and many travels and interesting adventures.
Dad was so proud of his growing family! His grandsons and great-grandsons were his “pride” and his granddaughters and great-granddaughter were his “joy”.
As Christians, we believe in the soul’s hope of eternal life in Heaven after life on this earth is finished. The Apostle, Peter, expresses it this way in the first chapter of his first letter,
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great
mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled,
and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded
through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
God’s merciful arms are open wide to welcome anyone who trusts in Him into His eternal family. Our comfort in Dad’s death comes from the hope that we will meet again, in our Heavenly home, without infirmity, sadness, or pain.
Always,
Sher

Dear Aunt Yvonne,
We share in your loss of such an amazing man - my beloved Uncle Ted. It seems that he was “Ed” to everyone else, but somehow he was always “Ted” to his nieces and nephews.
Norm was his “buddy”. When you lived in Sutton By the Lake, Uncle Ted would often call Norm, just to chat. He’d say “how’s my buddy Norm doing?” They shared a passion for classic cars. Their friendship was so wonderful. I only regret that I didn’t get to hang out with him at classic car shows.
I have the fondest memories of family get togethers. Uncle Ted was the life of the party … the fun one in the family. I love him and will miss him immensely.
You are very fortunate to have spent your life with such a wonderful man. Uncle Ted was an amazing husband, dad, grandpa and uncle.
Our deepest condolences to you, Sherry and Donna and your entire family. Rest peacefully in heaven, Uncle Ted … there must be some pretty cool cars up there!
Love to you all xoxo
