Where to begin? I spent a number of summers with Peter, Do and Sammy when I bought a cottage around the corner from Colmuir Lodge. They were certainly a highlight of our trips up north to Lake Simcoe. Many nights were spent in his garage, playing Billiards with the likes of bearded Benny, Do and her sister and husband -- fantastic memories. We all would hang out in the garage -- it became a meeting place. Even in the winter we would gather and play Billiards after Peter and Do installed a big wood-burning stove. I still laugh when Peter would announce that we hit 68 degrees F in the garage. Then there where were the summers swimming at their extensive beach and the wonderful dinner parties that Do hosted, ending the evening with a spirited bout of Eucrhe, with my wife Aase and Peter teaming up to take on Do and I. And their wide spread of beach, had a private spot that was hidden from everyone that Aase and I would spend so much time at, Do called it 'Aase's Beach'. All I have in my heart is absolutely great memories of Peter ....sometimes he would show up late at my cottage when I was alone, and we'd have heart-to-heart talks. He really wanted to be a journalist or a writer. Peter, Aase and I were so sad to hear of your passing. You were an amazing, upbeat individual who always found the 'good' in people!

I knew Peter when he worked at Investors Group. I enjoyed his sense of humour and we both shared a love of golf. Enjoyed playing with him at Orchard Beach C.C. Rest in peace Peter.

I am privileged to have known Peter. I enjoyed a few pints with him over the years, enjoyed playing golf with him and had many lunches with the man. He enjoyed a good laugh and I enjoyed laughing with him. My memories of him are a blessing. I'll see you again on the bright side of the road my friend!!

Where to start....Petie was part of growing up on Tilley Drive when our family moved to Scarborough in '78. An endless number of road hockey games with countless neighborhood players where the fun was only interrupted with the dreaded shout of "Car" to move the nets. The Tilley Drive Cup was a constantly contested match with the local legendary surnames of Lackie, Bray, Taynor, Grainger, Sagsoz, Trelford, Draper, et al.
Petie and my Brother Greg were Frick and Frack and I was assuredly the annoying little Brother tag-a-long at times, yet it never phased Petie, he was always exceptionally kind and patient towards me, I cannot recall a single time that he made me feel unwanted or a single time that he showed me an unkind emotion.
He was simply exceptional.
Petie introduced me to AC/DC and darts, the former I still appreciate and the latter I never kept up with, yet I clearly recall the dart experience as the three of us explored and fished Cooper Lake near Temagami at my Grandfather's fishing lodge while swatting the needle biting black flies, huge horse flies that took a chunk of your arm in a bite. Together, marveling at the structure of a beaver lodge, firing a WW1 Enfield .303 at tree stumps as we pretended to fight off an attacking black bear, canoeing along the shoreline. Catching pike, smallmouth bass, trolling for whitefish and walleyes with jigs.
Great memories of weekends at Point Clark, intelligent, thoughtful conversations, playing cards, debating who was the greatest Hockey player of all time.
I have photos of Petie in '93 helping up move my Parents back up to the farm, always with the closed mouth grin, tilted head and twinkle in the eyes that was his signature, not sure where they are, yet they are etched in my memory.
Greg and Petie kept in touch after Greg moved to Whistler and I moved to the Beaches, Petie kept in touch with me too and gave me a tour of AMEX and generously offered to push my C.V. through the Corp.
I was sad to miss him 3 years ago when he was going to be in Barrie and offered to meet up for lunch, the dreaded FB Messenger rollout caused confusion and he missed my response of "Hell yes!".
I digress, my sincerest sympathies to Doris and Sammy, Sammy whom I have not seen since the Condo on Yonge Street...where have the last 25 years gone? Carry on Sammy, your Pops was superb and he'll be missed by a multitude of people and we are always here for you and your Mum.
With kindest regards,
Gord

Forty years: Too many thoughts and memories to share publicly, but privately, I got to say everything to him face to face. Many times. Doris and Sam, you'll always be in my thoughts. Never hesitate to reach out. Peter was a good man and a good friend. I'm thankful for his presence in my life. Bless him.
