It was very sad to hear this news. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of Greg's family.
To Sharon and Stacy, there are no words that we can say except, we are so sorry for your loss.
I have known Greg since my first posting in his home town of North Bay back in the late 1970's.
He was a grocery store clerk who became an OPP Auxiliary officer who then transitioned to the First Nations Policing world.
He was in his element and really enjoyed his chosen profession. Even when he went to the great white north and had to cut firewood to heat his police station as part of his duties.
I could write a book about the things he told me and we got into over the years. I won't it would take too long.
He spent many years at Georgina Island and I had the pleasure of working with him there. He had a tremendous respect for the residents of Georgina Island and they had a great respect for Greg it was obvious. Greg had extensive knowledge of the culture and practices of this wonderful first nation and did his best to preserve and foster its growth.
Greg will be missed by many but not forgotten.
Rest in Peace Greg

Greg seemed like he was always a happy go lucky guy, it seemed like nothing ever phased him. While we only crossed paths a few times at work he was an invaluable resource for life on Georgina Island. When I worked at 3 District YRP many years ago we would attend at the island for backup. Two incidents are still vivid in my mind one where we had to meet him at the landing as he had arrested two individual one needing to attend the hospital as he had jumped in the lake from the boat while handcuffed. The other was in the dead of winter he called because he had a series of break ins one evening where Greg had called for backup. It took most of the night checking houses and eventually venturing onto the lake (following the track) that we found the culprits hiding in a fish hut. Greg "got his man". After my retirement I would occasionally attend on Georgina Island for the odd BBQ Greg was always present to "show the colours" and mingle with the people there, he was always a great individual to talk to.
10-42 Rest in Peace Greg .

Greg was an absolute pleasure to work with and know. My sincerest condolences to Sharon, Anastasia and family. I remember when I first came to Aurora Detachment back in 2005, Greg insisted that I drive the police boat to the island so I could have that experience. Long story short, my dock parking of the boat caused a few boards to be broken...there was another time he had me believe I had to get into the water to push a million dollar yacht that got lodged on a sand bar. Greg was awesome to work with. He always saw the best in others (community members, colleagues and people he served) and was a sincere, kind, caring officer who led by example. May he rest in peace, Lisa and Corneliu Rotar.

I am so deeply sorry to hear of Greg's untimely passing. I knew Greg from his time with the Georgina Island Police in my capacity as an OPP Auxiliary Officer.
It was always a pleasure to volunteer to help Greg with community events that took place on the Island that needed some extra hands.
Greg always made me feel valued and welcome and I truly appreciated his friendship over the years.
I will always have fond memories of him and send my deepest condolences to those closest to him.
Rest well, Greg. You will be missed.
