Harry, a month has passed without you. I sit here alone reminiscing about the 17 years we spent together. We were always there for each other in good times and throughout our health issues. Not only were you my partner but you were also my best friend. Abby, our furry little girl, is still missing you and waits for you to come home.
I am so grateful for the love and acceptance you gave and showed to my 5 girls and their families. You had a special way of always finding the good in people.
Harry, now you are at rest and in a better place. I miss you and will forever love you and will always hold your memory in my heart.
Until we meet again my dear...Love Always, Mary

Uncle Harry,
I will always remember you fondly. Trips to Toronto to visit were always full of adventure. Ed's Warehouse, the CN Tower, Canda's Wonderland, and an amazing fishing trip where you taught me to use canned corn as trout bait (which I still do). Thank you so much for so many memories. I will never forget your smile. With love, rest in peace.

Harry, I have many memories of spending time with you over the last 18 years, as do my boys. They often reminisce about their summer breaks with you and mom and have a few funny fishing stories too. The last few months were stressful for you and mom, with her in the hospital and you being uprooted from home during the condo construction repairs. It was an honour to have you here with us during that time and I wouldn't have had it any other way. You are family, my pops, we all miss you.
Love you,
Janice

This picture shows the first time you( Harry) were introduced to our family. It was at Mom Heron's birthday party. You were warmly accepted into the family that night. We felt confident that this was the beginning of something special. Indeed, it did turn out to be a relationship in which two people seemed to be truly concerned for the well-being of the other. As it turned out, you and Mom shared a variety of life experiences that further strengthened the bond between you.
During our many visits, we shared stories and pictures about family, life, careers, weddings and sports. Though the drives to Bobcaygeon and Jackson Point from Kitchener seemed long, we were usually welcomed with handshakes, hugs and big smiles. These were usually followed by a warm homecooked meal prepared by mom or a quick visit to a nearby restaurant.
We particularly enjoyed our visits to the trailer going for rides on the lake on your pontoon boat with you tearing across the lake and Mom hanging on for dear life... You also shared many things about your life, family and career. You were always eager to tell little stories about your business ventures and experiences. These were pretty fascinating at times particularly when you explained how hard work and dedication can lead to success. One thing that I remember well was the shortcut to Peterborough you told us about. Turns out it seemed to last forever but we eventually got there and we ladies finally got to shop. We even got home to the trailer before dark which was a good thing. I sure wish we had the GPS that day.
Mom is feeling a terrible loss with your passing but we are here with her to watch over her and assist her through his difficult period. We too will miss you and fondly remember the times we shared with you. Rest in Peace Harry.

Dear Uncle Harry
I believe you know how much I have been thinking about you, reflecting on the time we had together. Life goes by so fast but the memories last a lifetime. Here are a few I would like to share,
You made "the mosquito" story famous among our family, or should I say "misquital" as that is how I said it being very young in the tent with you and Aunt Caroline on one of our trips. I would not go to sleep until you got the mosquito. You always told this story to anyone who would listen. I'm still like that today with any bugs.
Sleeping at your house in my very own room and waking up at 430 in the morning and going to work alongside you and Aunt Caroline in your butcher shop. My own bedroom and bathroom normally shared with my five younger siblings and WOW.. eating those delicious sugar donuts when we arrived at your store! Both were such a treat! I felt so important wearing a clean crisp white apron every day. You trained me on the bread slicer, the deli counter and I packed all the foods for the customers with Aunt Caroline. I can still hear both of you as if it were yesterday so proudly introducing me to everyone as your niece! I have been complimented all my work life to this present day on my excellent customer service skills. I learned this at an early age from you and Aunt Caroline at your very busy store. My mom and dad saw a great opportunity for me I'm sure, however they both told me that I always came home "a little bit spoiled" after being at your house.
Holidays, family gatherings, visits at the Schlumberger house were very special to all of us.
Dinners with Peter and I, Mark and Sarah ... You always brought the "peach Schnapps" and so many of your funny stories.
It is always so hard to be the one left behind! Mary I am thinking of you during this difficult time. I have appreciated that my Uncle was able to find happiness and companionship again. He always said how strong you were and that you could "walk circles around him".
Uncle Harry I will be remembering you in my prayers along with my loved ones who have passed before you.
You will always have a special place in my heart. May peace be with you!
Love your niece and Goddaughter
Debbie

I can't seem to bring myself to say "Auf Wiedersehen" Uncle Harry....so I won't. You see, even thought our contact has been infrequent over the years, you've never been far away in my thoughts. Like everyone you've met, you've become a part of us and, because of that, you'll be beside us a long as God allows us to be here. Given the generations of family you have, I expect that will be a long, long time. I'm sure Tante Lina will agree. You can check with her now that you're together again....and Mary (a wonderful woman that I've never really met) will agree, I'm sure. Your great nephew Scott is full of memories and stories about you, as is his sister, Brie. Like all of us, they instantly recall the smiles, laughs and memories that include tasting Toblerone for the first time, trips to Canada's Wonderland and just the warm feeling of being around you. Oh yes, somehow, fishing seems to come up frequently (go figure). I remember the struggles you and Aunt Lina had, as well. And I remember the strength and resilience you both showed as you worked to overcome them. Despite those issues, you always had a kind smile for me and provided unexpected insight that helped me in my life. I'll try to continue that legacy, I promise. Getting a little teary now, so I'll close with yet another "fish story". I remember a vacation to Peterborough back in the early 50's, and you catching a large muskie. I have the photo Uncle Eddy snapped of you holding it up while I pretended to shoot it with a toy popgun. Aunt Lina cooked it up for all of us that night, and we all enjoyed it. The next day we went to the General Store for supplies and you told the owner about the fish and gave him the measurements. He asked what you did with it and, when you told him about the previous evening's dinner, he said "Too bad, it would have won First Place in our Fishing Contest". I was rather disappointed as was Uncle Eddy. But, true to form, you smiled that smile of yours and said "Still, it was a great tasting fish!".
You know Uncle Harry, maybe I will say "Auf Wiedersehen" after all. It makes sense after all. It means "Until we meet again".
You'll be missed, deeply, respected greatly, and remembered always.
Your nephew,
George "Ulli" Kelly

Dear Uncle Harry:
You are fondly remembered along with Aunt Karoline (with whom you are now reunited) for all the joy and laughter you brought to the Schlumberger family while we were growing up as kids, especially when you came by to visit us or when we visited you. You loved to laugh and to make others laugh around you with your unique sense of humour and your hearty laugh. Your positive approach toward life and deep sense of family were infectious to all those around you. I feel blessed to have had you in my life as my Uncle and for making me feel special.
One of my earliest childhood memories is when you and Aunt Karoline took me by car to New York City to visit Aunt Kathy and we went to the Empire State Building. You and Aunt Karoline had indulged me with every want but there was no pleasing me when you couldn’t buy me one of the “dinky cars” on the street below. We sang Beatles songs in the car on the way home and you were instrumental (along with my Dad) in instilling a love of fishing and the outdoors, of hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in coin collecting—interests which I still enjoy to this day.
Looking at the pictures of you now from those times, even the ones of you with my Dad before I was born and the haul of carp on the shore or of Dad standing in front of his old car, I realize that you were an integral part of helping a young boy and his family to dream big, just as you did when you came with dreams of your own to Canada with Aunt Karoline to build your life here together after WWII. We always knew that when Uncle Harry was coming over there would be lots of revelry—and chocolate treats from your German Deli store so it really gave us something to look forward to, especially at Christmas and Easter. You and Aunt Karoline also helped to pave the way (as immigrants do) for Dad in Canada as he followed you here from Germany and settled near you in Toronto so I am grateful to you for that too.
As I grew older you helped to guide me in the business world and I learned how to be more socially adept through our interactions, learning from your interpersonal people skills which were exemplary.
You had to endure some difficult times through Aunt Karoline’s illness and health issues of your own but through it all you persevered and remained positive. You even found the humour in the “rat poison” that sustained your health and your resilience allowed you to build a new and happy life for many years afterward with Mary and her family.
Even though you are no longer with us and I will miss our relationship, I know that you will remain in my thoughts when I am fishing, watching a Leafs game or engaging in numismatics, so you will be here with me still, just in a different way.
May God bless you and Aunt Karoline and welcome you both now to share life eternally with Him.
With love from your nephew,
Wendell
