Jack lived next to my family in Victoria Square during my adolescence. He could always be relied upon to travel the high road of life providing an example of quiet dignity. Once when I was playing with my siblings my brother fell from the garage roof, putting his wrist through a window pane, severing all arteries, tendons and ligaments. Jack and Gertie were called as our parents were away. They quickly cleaned and wrapped Jarrett’s injury and roared off to the Richmond Hill hospital, then Sick Kids Hospital . I credit Jack’s quick, sound decision making and kind heart with Jarrett’s full recovery, indeed, his life.

Sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. My family lived on the neighbouring farm in Victoria Square and for over the many decades, Jack & Gertie, my Mom Barb and Dad Les remained longtime friends until their passing.
Gertie, I wish you peace and know that Jack, Les and Barb might be sharing stories over a cottage coffee.

Dear Gertie & Sharon,
Have known you Gertie and John for more than 20 years and even though I supplied you with lots of coffee and vitamins over the years, I got to know you both and how dear and wonderful you both were. Even got a piece of decorated chocolate cake when I arrived on John's birthday. Visited you both in Sutton last year and am saddened of not seeing John next time, but Gertie, you are such a delight that I hope you continue to light up everyone's life, as you've always done.

Randy and I are saddened to hear of Uncle Jacks passing. I fondly remember holidaying (at his and Aunt Gertie's house with cousins Peggy and Sharron). Now who will sing the songs when the family gets together? Condolences to Aunt Gertie and the rest of the family.

I’ll miss you Granddad. I know everybody thinks they have the best grandparents in the world, but I really did. He worked hard and valued his family more than anything in the world. You’ll be missed. But I’ll be taking your boat out on some quiet British Columbia lakes and shooting the odd deer with your old .30-06. I’ll think of you always.
