I just thought of Barry tonight, looked him up on the internet after 25+ years, only to discover his passing. I could not be more saddened by this news. Barry worked for me at Luke's Drug Store in Sutton back in the late 70's, early 80's - or should I say I worked for Barry as he was an excellent pharmacist, my mentor and friend, and one who anyone would admire for his careful consideration of our patients, his active listening skills, and an incredible sense of humour. I am ashamed that we didn’t keep in contact, as with many I knew back in our little town, but Barry holds a special place in my and my wife’s heart. It is odd how we allow the years to fly by without remembering those who taught us so much. Barry was that special person for me. Deep down, Barry was a very serious person with love encapsulating (he would smile at the use of that term) his rather large heart, but also had time to have fun with a healthy dose (again another term he would like) of self-deprecation. My deepest belated condolences to Barry’s family and friends. There are many of us who will miss Barry but also feel enriched for knowing him, and in my case, learning from him. Warmest regards, Dave Luke (DLuke4@Comcast.net)

I remember Barry from our UofT pharmacy days - good natured, helpful, fun. He has been a wonderful friend ever since-supportive, encouraging, smart, a good listener. And a caregiver to all. He will be missed. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. May good memories keep you smiling.

We are in Florida and heard this very bad news from Peggy. We both want you to know that we are thinking of you and that we very much valued our time with Barry. He was a very nice person and one of the smartest people we ever knew. It is a sad time and the world is missing a good person now!!!

Condolences to the Peterson family from all of us at Hospice Georgina. We wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Barry's tireless efforts as part of the grassroots effort that led to our founding. He contributed countless volunteer hours as Board Chair, and in other capacities. We feel so very fortunate that we got to know him. Thanks for sharing him with us. All of us have a special memory of Barry, and he managed to help each and every one of us along the way. He will be missed by so many.
