Our deepest sympathy goes out to John & Barb’s family and friends at such a difficult time of profound loss. Your incredible love and support of these two amazing people will be remembered and cherished forever, as they will be.
Uncle John was as important to me in my childhood as any of my ‘blood’ relatives, and the genuine love and support he (and you all) showed for me and my family carried us through many difficult times.
Thank you for honouring him with the love and courage you showed him and each other through these challenging days, it is a testimony to the kind of person he was and the values he instilled in his family and shared with the people around him. You will all continue in our prayers.

'Mr. Jones' was a special man who played a special part in my youth. Countless visits to the Jones's home to visit my friend Sherry meant I didn't have to wait for anyone to answer the door -- I was ALWAYS greeted with a warm 'hello' and made to feel like part of the family. I will remember him and his kindness for ever.

To John and Barb's family:
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your parents. I knew John since our days at Holloway School and Prince of Wales. I got to know him better at our last reunion when he and Barb came to help set up the place where we were having the meet and greet. I was reciting a poem sort of quietly and he heard me and encouraged me to recite it at the dinner, I am not very confident and thought no way, but that night at the dinner, John came over to me and said you can do it and I did. That was the first time I really spent any time with Barb and liked her so much. They truly were a wonderful couple. May they rest in peace.

To the children and grandchildren of Barb and John Jones.
I am saddened to learn that your parents have passed. They were dear and long time friends and I have many fond memories, of your dad in particular, going back to early childhood days at Prince of Wales College, playing hockey, roller skating and just hanging out. I came know Barb in later years and always found her to be a gentle and gracious lady. Since we moved to London,On. your mom and dad visited us here and he would regularly telephone to see if the 'mainland' was right for us. He was kind and thoughtful, looking out for his old friends.
On our phone calls he would speak with quiet pride about you and what was happening in your lives. I know that there will be a big hole in your heart at the loss of your parents and there will be one in our hearts at the loss of dear friends. Barb and John were persons with deep faith, they are together in a better place.
We will always treasure their friendship.
Farewell old friends.
God Bless you,

So sorry to hear of John's passing. I knew him as a teenager when we rode the bus back and forth from St. John's to Mount Pearl. We lost touch early on, but I have often thought of him over the years and the songs he would make up and sing on the bus. The way everyone described him in the condolences is the way I remember him being half a century ago: open, honest, friendly and spontaneous. So great to know he had stayed true to himself and continued to have such a positive impact on those around him. God bless his soul.

To the Jones children
You do not know but I stayed three and one half years from 1967 to 1970 in the same room with your father while working around Newfoundland. When he decided to move to Sutton in the summer of 1971 with your mother we stayed in contact and even visited each other for a short time but because of the distance between us we drifted apart and lost contact. I know I am kicking myself for this now but I console myself in saying we both had to raise our family's and that is life.
Anyway I have read some of the comments about your parents and I see that they never changed over the years. Take care and hopefully I may meet some of you before I decease as I am getting up there in age myself. If you ever come look me up as I left you my email address.

Jonesy, as he was always called, was my friend from kindergarten to university Then we all lost track of him until a PWC reunion in 2003 and learned he and Barb only lived 50 miles from us. A more quiet ( except when he punched Eric Bradley in school and made his nose bleed), happy and honest man you could never meet. He constantly talked about his family, faith, and how blessed he was. Would often drive Barb to Fairview Mall (where she liked to shop) and drop in for a coffee saying he had given her a 1 hour time limit before he picked her up. We are going to miss them immensely. The kids (?) have been amazing. Farewell my great friends. Hope to meet you again later. Sue and John Parsons

John, Jonesy, was a special man as the many notes of condolence show. And Barb was his perfectly matched spouse. These were two of the finest people one could ever know. Jonesy was a classmate in St John's and we only reunited in 2003 at a school reunion. Since that time I had the pleasure and privilege of spending time with him and Barb. I echo completely the many comments about his and their kindness and good humour. Near the end, in typical Jonesy fashion, he was more focussed on Barb's struggle than his own. Perhaps there is a bigger plan so the notion that they leave us together isn't a bad one. Kudos to their kids for their dedication and love at the end.

Although our conversations were short ones, usually before or after cutting the lawn, John always had some words of wisdom for me. His words taught me alot of things and the most important were about family. He made me realize that family is the most important and work will always be there and to make time for family because the time passes by so quickly.

Mr. Jones... such a soft, gentle, caring man whom I respected from day 1, some 25ish years ago. We may have pushed the limits (sometimes) as kids, but I always knew I was welcome in the Jones' home. And what a home it was - filled with the smells of something cooking (or burning, depending on the chef), the world's biggest cackling laughs, and Mr. Jones' singing. And so much love. Even as an adult, visiting with my daughter, the house was still full of that same, infectious love. And singing. :) My deepest sympathies to this incredible, strong family.
